Lunch Briefing Invite - Patient Engagement and 21st Century Cures
Dear [Decision Maker],
I urge your office to attend the December 9th Congressional Briefing:Enhancing Patient Engagement in Drug Development: Building on FDASIA in 21st Century Cures hosted by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
Congress and the Food and Drug Administration have taken significant steps in recent years to enhance the level of patient engagement in the drug development process. These include expanded authorities to involve the patients more directly in the process, the development of new patient-focused drug development tools and a focus on patient engagement as a key PDUFA performance metric. While these are all important steps forward, challenges remain on the horizon, particularly the need to maximize the impact of the patient voice. The Energy & Commerce Committee's 21st Century Cures Initiative will hopefully provide a near-term opportunity to build upon the foundation to address these challenges to ensure patients play a role in this process. On December 9th, representatives from Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), FasterCures, and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) will present on the many exciting developments that have occurred over the past two years and will make recommendations as to what can be done through the 21st Century Cures initiative and beyond to strengthen patient engagement in drug development. When: Tuesday, December 9th 12 -1pmWhere: Rayburn 2218RSVP: Ryan@ParentProjectMD.orgLunch will be served We hope you'll join us for this timely discussion about advancing the voice of the patient in drug development through 21st Century Cures.
