Protect Access to Wheelchairs and other Complex Rehab Technologies

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am writing asking for your help in protecting access for Medicare beneficiaries with disabilities who require specialized Complex Rehab wheelchairs.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that it will apply Medicare competitive bid program pricing to Complex Rehab wheelchair accessories effective January 1, 2016. This is inappropriate and violates the intent of past Congressional legislation (MIPPA 2008) which exempted complex rehab equipment from competitive bidding and will create significant access problems.

I am asking that you help preserve continued access to this specialized equipment for Medicare beneficiaries with disabilities by co-sponsoring and passing H.R. 3229 or S. 2196. To sign on, you can contact Representative Zeldin's (R-NY) office through Matt Scott at Matthew.Scott@mail.house.gov, Senator Casey's office through Gillian Mueller at Gillian_Mueller@Casey.Senate.gov, or Senator Portman's office through Sarah Johnson at Sarah_Johnson@Portman.Senate.gov.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Sincerely,
