Race to End Duchenne in an Event Near You!
Being part of the Race to End Duchenne team is easier than ever! Participating in run/walk events in your community is great way to raise much needed awareness and dollars for Duchenne.
How Do I Find A Race?
It is important to find a race that meets your fitness level. If you are a beginner, look for a 5K run and/or walk. Be sure to inquire about the details of the course such as inclines, etc. As you improve your fitness level you can look for races with an increased distance such as 10K's, half marathons and eventually the ultimate challenge: a full marathon!
These events are usually well advertised. Resources for finding local races include:
- Local newspapers
- Local news channel websites
- Local running and/or athletic stores
- City/County websites
After Finding A Race, What Are My Next Steps?
After finding a local race, your next step is to create a fundraising page! Click on the "Register" button. After answering a few simple questions, you will receive an email with a link to your Participant Center. You will enter your login information and begin customizing your page. Remember, the more you personalize your page, the better! Add pictures, tell about the event in which you are participating, blog about your training, and don't forget to explain why ending Duchenne is important to you!
Runners who raise at least $100 will receive a Race to End Duchenne t-shirt, and those who raise $200 or more will also receive a Race to End Duchenne technical shirt. These items are also available for purchase in our online store.
If you have any questions, please email race@parentprojectmd.org.
Now it's time to lace up your sneakers and hit the ground running!
