Firefighters on a Mission
For the past 5 years, Firefighters on a Mission has been running marathons, bringing awareness and helping those with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Our mission began in 2015, when firefighter Tim Petz and his wife learned their son Logan had this terrible disease. At the time of his diagnosis, the Petz family knew they couldn’t sit around and wait for a cure. They knew they needed to take action. Inspired by their efforts, a team of firefighters refusing to let the Petz family fight alone, established Firefighters on a Mission.
Saturday, April 11th will be the first race for our newest team members. Fire fighters Max Maravankin (Palm Beach County, Fl.) and Jake Evans (Palm Bay, Fl.) are officially joining Team Logan and will be running 13.1 miles in the "Game On" Singer Island Half Marathon.
New to the fire service, Max and Jake quickly learned about the support and comradery that comes with the job. When they decided to run, they wanted to do so for a purpose that was bigger than themselves, while supporting their fellow brothers and sisters. Team Logan & Firefighters on a Mission will give them the ability to do exactly that! While helping to fund research to find a cure for muscular dystrophy, Firefighters on a Mission also supports other firefighters who have family members diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The goal in most every race is to cross the finish line in the shortest amount of time. As with Logan and all those fighting against Duchenne, that goal is everything – because when it comes to finding a cure, these children are truly in a race against time.
If you feel compelled to do so, you can help Team Logan & Firefighters on a Mission #ExtinguishDuchenne, by making a donation and/or sharing our story. All funds raised here will help Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, going directly toward research for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is 100% tax deductible.
Thank you for helping us in the fight against this terrible disease.
